In DNCC (Dublin North City and County) there are specialist supports for people with alcohol dependency at tier 3 services, but little at tier 2 for people experiencing some issues from their alcohol use but not at dependent stage. As part of the integrated care pathway for alcohol in DNCC, we are piloting a tier 2 support in primary care centres, SAOR Extended Brief Intervention for Alcohol.
The service user can avail of up to 6 sessions, free of charge in their primary care centre, with onward referral pathways into specialist tier 3 services where required.
Referral to the SAOR EBI service is through the Integrated Alcohol Service (IAS) by filling in a referral form and emailing to them iasdublinreferrals@hse.ie (SAOR EBI can be noted on the referral).
